Just in case you're wondering - these are the main styles of earrings available today:-
Stud Earrings
A stud earring is a small piece of jewellery in an array of metals previous and otherwise that is worn through a small hole in the earlobe. Studs come in all shapes, sizes and designs. Very tiny studs are usually around 3mm and large up to 14mm.
Drop earrings
Drop earrings attach to the lower ear and feature a gemstone or ornament that dangles down from a chain or sleeper. The length of the charms vary from short to the luxuriously long. These earrings are occasionally known as droplet earrings, dangle earrings, chandelier or pendant earrings.
Huggies
A small earring usually circular in shape which fixes through the earlobe and fastens at the back or underneath to form a full circle. They are known as huggies as they almost - not quite - hug the earlobe. These are usually plain or decorated with crystals or similar.
Chandelier earrings
As the name suggests these are large earrings shaped like a chandelier - smaller at the top usually with a stud fastening which goes through the ear lobe and go wider as they get longer. The styles for these earrings are unlimited from cheap beads to luxury diamonds costing 100s of 1000s of pounds.
Sleepers (AKA Hoops)
A full circle earring which vary in size from very small around 10mm to very large - no limit really. They are usually plain and fasten either one part of the tube inside another or with a lever type fastening.
Lever back earrings
As the name suggest these are hinged and have a lever at the back which opens and closes to fasten. The lever is usually at the back with the front part decorated with a charm or crystal. These are beautiful earrings and certainly our most popular at RedDolly Jewellery.
Urchin earrings
A simple wire which goes through the ear and the longer part is unseen at the back - this earring type is designed to let the full stone show at the front and be the main feature so the silver/gold is in the background.
French wires
These are also known as bullion earrings. These are very fine wire earrings and are used to conceal earring wires close to the fastening.
Materials - earrings can be made from dozens of different materials - most common are Sterling silver (sometimes called 925 silver), gold, copper, wire, acrylic (plastic) and many more.
This is why we adore earrings - the only limit to the design is your imagination.
